Promotion of Cyber Security
To cope with the increasing challenges to manage potential risks arising from external cyber security threats to the new ATC systems, the division has since 2013 established the CAD Air Navigation Services Cyber Security Committee. Over the past few years, the Committee has worked closely with colleagues from various CAD divisions to tighten the cyber security control and formulate long-term strategies for the ATC systems. To further mitigate the cyber security risk, AESD launched a new initiative in September 2017 to gradually install over 8 000 Universal Serial Bus (USB) blockers in nine months to inhibit unauthorised access to all USB ports of the workstations at E-ATCC, N-TWR and relevant equipment rooms. In recognition of the efforts, the Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau of the Hong Kong Police Force presented CAD with the Bronze Award in the management category of Government and Public Bodies sector in the Cyber Security Professionals Awards 2017.
