CAD representatives attended the 17th Meeting of the Cooperative Development of Operational Safety and Continuing Airworthiness Programmes-North Asia Steering Committee.

The Director-General of Civil Aviation, Mr Simon Li, and Director-General of the Air Traffic Management Bureau (ATMB) of the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), Mr Che Jinjun, met in Shenzhen and signed a joint statement on supporting the sustainable development of air navigation services and airspace in the Pearl River Delta (PRD) region, as a further step in setting objectives for the future development of air navigation services and airspace in the region.

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Traveller Identification Programme (TRIP) Regional Seminar, jointly organised by CAD and ICAO, was held at CAD Headquarters. The Seminar was convened for the very first time in the Asia-Pacific region.

ATMB, CAD and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Macao Special Administrative Region entered into a Memorandum of Co-operation after a meeting in Macao to further improve the efficiency of air traffic management in the PRD region by (a) enhancing the regular and emergency exchange and co-ordination mechanism on air traffic flow management to lift operational efficiency of flights; (b) promoting automated work processes on flight co-ordination; and (c) initiating the modelling and simulation of the airspace and air traffic in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area by using advanced technology to provide reliable, precise and detailed analysis for planning and formulating air traffic management procedures and measures.

The Airport Authority Hong Kong started the operational trial of the Automated Foreign Object Debris Detection System at Hong Kong International Airport.

CAD representatives exchanged views with CAAC representatives on flight safety oversight and e-licensing system.

CAD was presented with the 2017 Global Safety Achievement Award by Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation.

2017 International Federation of Airworthiness Forum was held at CAD Headquarters.

ICAO Airport Collaborative Decision Making (A-CDM) Seminar in conjunction with the Second Meeting of the Asia/Pacific A-CDM Task Force was held at CAD Headquarters.

CAD successfully conducted a long range search and rescue exercise with the participation of six government departments and other organisations.

Witnessed by an ICAO representative, CAD and Aeronautical Radio of Thailand Limited held an operational readiness ceremony at CAD Headquarters to mark the successful completion of connection tests between Hong Kong and Bangkok through the Common Regional Virtual Private Network.

CAAC and CAD discussed the cooperation for certification of C919 Aircraft.
