The Chief Executive announced in the 2024 Policy Address to establish the Working Group on Developing Low-altitude Economy (WG). Led by the Deputy Financial Secretary, the WG will formulate development strategies and inter-departmental action plans for the development of low-altitude economy (LAE) in Hong Kong, including the establishment of the LAE Regulatory Sandbox (“Sandbox”). The Sandbox pilot projects will be conducted by batches, with the first batch open for applications starting from 13 November 2024 with deadline on 31 December 2024. Civil Aviation Department reminds public to remain vigilant against scams
It has come to the notice of the Civil Aviation Department (CAD) that members of the public received fraudulent demand notes purportedly issued by the CAD for a "fee" for an application of operating air services to and from Hong Kong.
The CAD emphasises that the department would not request applicants to pay any fee when applying to operate air services to and from Hong Kong. For required information and procedures in regard to the application, please refer to the CAD's website (https://www.cad.gov.hk/english/charter.html). The CAD has reported the case to the Police.
The CAD reminds members of the public to remain vigilant when receiving any suspicious document. If there is any doubt, please contact the CAD's staff for verification, or call the 24-hour enquiry hotline 18222 to contact the Anti-Deception Coordination Centre of the Police for assistance.
The Personnel Licensing Information System (PLIS) (https://plis.cad.gov.hk/) is now available. With effect from 2 July 2024, applicants for Professional Pilot’s Licence, Medical Certificate and Aircraft Maintenance Licence shall submit applications electronically via PLIS. Printed application forms will no longer be accepted.
